New job: Communications Manager at Personal Collection
Well, I went back to the corporate world this month.
I'm the new Communications Manager of Personal Collection Direct Selling, Inc. It's a local company that sells products for home cleaning, personal care, fragrances, baby care, men's care, intimate apparel, and health supplements.
I write brochures, magalogues, memos, emailers, posters, scripts, social media posts. I make communication plans. What else, what else? Basically, if itneeds to be written, it lands on my desk.
The job itself isn't hard. I can do it with my eyes closed. But after 10 years of being a freelancer, blogger, business owner, and author, I'm having a really hard time adjusting to the clock. The hours are long and I was in the middle of writing a novel but now I'm too exhausted to write. So there's that despair.
I know I'm lucky to get this job. I've been looking for a new job in the last 4 months and it hasn't been easy or fair. Once they hear I've been "unemployed," the interest or the offer suddenly goes down. So I'm grateful. Let's see how this goes.
